Applied psychology
The study of psychology is the study of human thoughts, behaviors, and emotions.
Eating disorder: abortions lead to eating disorders because after abortions women tend to feel lonely, sad, guilty, anger, and depressed. They start to have nightmares, and flashbacks and the use of drugs and alcohol. Suicidal thoughts begin to run through their heads. All these feelings and emotions lead to eating disorders because the girl doesn’t think about anything but the decision of aborting. ("Abortion Risks: A list of major psychological complications related to abortion")
Child neglect or abuse: abortion connects to women neglecting their children because mothers who couldn’t abort will have that resentment towards their child because they didn’t want to give birth to it. ("Abortion Risks: A list of major psychological complications related to abortion")
Post traumatic stressed disorder: this relates to abortion because mothers who do abort experience stress disorders. Because they start to think about how different things would be if they had the baby and there’s just a feeling of guilt inside them that leads to being stressed out. ("Abortion Risks: A list of major psychological complications related to abortion")
Cognitive behavioral therapy: This can help cure post traumatic stress disorders because cognitive therapy helps you understand and change how you think of things. The person just has to be willing to commit to going to therapy and being patient with the therapy because it’s something that’s takes time to cure. ("PTSD: National Center for PTSD")
Counseling/ play therapy: this could help the baby being abused because if they are getting hit growing up they are going to be scared of grownups who supposed to be trusted. And they aren’t going to want to do anything because they’ll feel like if they do it they are going to get hit. Play therapy can help the kids being abused because it allows them to try to be free and act out different then how they normally would without getting abused. ("Child Abuse Physical")
Psychotherapy: this can help treat eating disorders because this treatment allows people who have eating disorders meet with psychiatrist and talk with them. With this treatment people can see why they aren’t eating. And the feelings they get and the moods they start to be in if they don’t eat. ("Psychotherapy", 1998-2014)
The field of psychology can be used to change the world because knowing how the brain works you are able to help people who have mental disorders. You are able to pass on knowledge to people who aren’t given the chance to take the course. Passing on knowledge of psychology causes the field to be studied more and more studies are done on brains.
Taking the ap psychology class this year helped me a lot in understanding how the brains works and how everything we do is because of the brain. Something I will take away from this class is without the brain the human body isn’t anything and when brains work differently the whole body functions a different way.
