HISTORICAL CONTEXTS
Abortion started in the early 1800s. It started because women who were getting pregnant were having unhealthy pregnancies were also having abortions because their lives were at risk and their body couldn't take the pain. Abortions then became popular and people didn't want to pay to get it done so women would practice it illegally. It was happening so much people wanted to put a stop to it because little babies were being killed. Then the debate between Roe and Wade happened to legalize abortion and only allow it to happen when the mother’s life is being at risk.
Living conditions in the 1800s were horrible. In some states there was a rule of having 3 families per room. And you can have up to 14 families in a house. This affected a lot of families because a lot of sicknesses and diseases were being spread around the house and children were getting sick. Buildings were crowded with people and they had limited amount of resources. Such as water, food, and good air to breathe.("ANDREA")
